Some Weekly Pictures

When Drew was a baby we took weekly pictures of him so we could see how much he changed since little ones change so quickly. So, here are the first three weeks of little Blake! We cannot believe that he was three weeks as of this past Wednesday! The time has flown by already! We took him for his checkup today and the doctor said he looked great! He went from 6 lbs. 13 oz. two weeks ago to 8 lbs. 8 oz. today! He is for sure growing!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

I am one who refuses to have anything to do with Christmas until after Thanksgiving! I don't like to overlook a holiday with so much meaning and importance to it! Thanksgiving is a very special day to me and we had a blast with our families, but now it is on to Christmas! We listened to Wiggles Christmas in the car and got our tree set up! Drew is so excited for Christmas this year!!! He talks about it all the time and loves to wear his Santa hat.

Daddy and Drew holding their bellies saying, "Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas!!"
This is how excited Blake was about the whole thing! Haha! And yes, that is a little bump on his head. Just some slight trauma from being born. The doctor said it should go away sometime in the next month or so.

Drew did a pretty good job this year of putting the ornaments on the tree. He had just as much fun unwrapping them from the bubble wrap to see what other ones we had.

This is our family ornament for this year.

The finished product...we decided we need a bigger tree next year!

Drew was even able to play outside for a bit on Saturday because it was not as cold out! He loved playing in the leaves.

Lastly....I am thinking that I will be changing my url to www.threemenandalady.blogspot.com sometime this week. I will let you all know for sure when, but if you can't find us at this current website it is because the url has changed! Thanks for keeping up with us!

So, finally the update...

Alrighty, so our last week and two days has been absolutely a whirlwind! Here is our story! On Wednesday, November 12 I had an 8:15 doctor appointment with the nurse practitioner for just a regular weekly check-up. They told me that my blood pressure was a bit high, but that the protein in my urine was too high. So, she wanted to wait till my OB got to the office at 9:00 am to talk with her. Apparently I had signs of preeclampsia, which can be dangerous and the only cure is to deliver the baby. After my doctor got to the office, she examined me again and I was still at 1-2 centimeters, but about 90% effaced. She basically told us that she wanted us to go directly to the hospital, get checked in, and then we would induce labor because she wanted to get the baby out.

At that point we (the baby and I) were both fine, but she didn't want to take any chances. So, off the hospital we went. Kyle and I were both a little freaked because we didn't expect to be having a baby that day. Drew went to play with some friends and our parents were on their way up. Between 9:30 and 10:30 we got checked in, got to our room (a birthing suite was available), and I got hooked up to all the monitors, got some fluids in me and the pitocin started.

While I answered all the medical questions for the nurse, Kyle started making all the other phone calls to friends and family. So, we basically just were hanging out for awhile waiting for the pitocin to kick in and get the contractions going. We got to hang with the Steele's, then our families arrived. At some point the baby's heart rated dipped a little so I had to be on oxygen for a while. At around 3 I started to get to the point where I was uncomfortable. I couldn't get my epidural till I was 3-4 centimeters because they wanted to break my water and do an internal monitor on the baby then. Luckily for me, my OB said to go ahead and do all of those things. By the time all those things were accomplished I had my relief by 4:30. I pretty quickly started to feel some pressure, but nothing too serious. My nurse said it was just the baby's head coming down. By about 5:30 or so it was a little bit more uncomfortable...the doctor came in to check me and I was at 10!! I had gone from 4-10 in an hour! So, by 5:49 little Blake Joseph was here!!! I had to do VERY little work, which was nice!

All cleaned up and waiting to meet his big brother and the rest of his family!

So, during Blake's post birth check up everything was great except for his blood sugar was low. After testing it a few times it wasn't going up, but rather continuing to go down. The doctors decided that he needed to go up the NICU for a while to get it back on track. Little did we know the journey we would take in the next few days. I just kinda thought he would be up there for a bit and then rejoin us in our room later or the next day. I didn't realize I would have to join him in his room.

Mommy feeding Blake. We basically had to feed him every three hours so we could get his sugar up. He was also on a IV with glucose to help the problem. The doctors were spending time trying to figure out what caused the low blood sugar and trying to keep the sugar up.

So, after being in the hospital for what seemed like forever the doctors basically said that they think his blood sugar problem was caused by his little body not being able to keep up with what he was doing while he was in my belly. He got so used to handling what I had given him that when he had to do it on his own he couldn't. So, he just needed a little jump start. We were able to go home after he had been off the glucose IV for 24 hours with good sugar levels! So, on Tuesday afternoon we were offically released from the hospital! The last pictures are of his first couple days at home!!!
First sponge bath! Daddy would have never done this with Drew,
but now he is an old pro!!
Now that we are home...I will keep you all posted on what's going on in our paradise as a family of FOUR!!! I also need to redo my url because we aren't "The Turner Trio" anymore. I have no idea what to use....please leave some suggestions on the comment portion! Also, when I decide to change the url you will have to change it too.....But I will let you all know when that happens! Well, it's 6:00 so time to go feed the little dude! Love to all!

37 Weeks and some Colds

We are officially 37 weeks along today!! My last doctor's appointment was last Wednesday and I was 1 centimeter dilated and 30% effaced, so that basically means anytime now! I am also only allowed to text Kyle now until it's "time" so that way when I call he will know it's time. Kyle is getting over his cold, but Drew and I have them now...so we are hoping that Blake can hold off at a least a few more days so we can all get better!

For Halloween this past weekend Kyle had to be out of town for a wedding, so Drew and I stayed in and passed out candy at our house. I just put him in his costume from last year (yeah, it was a little short in the legs), but I added some whiskers and a nose and he loved it! In fact..he had in on twice on Saturday and had to have the nose and whiskers again! He was very funny handing out candy to our trick-or-treaters because he was so into everyone's costumes that he would stare at everyone and forget to put candy in the bags. But he was a very good helper! Here are a few pictures of the scary tiger!
Since Kyle was out of town, my parents were able to come up for the weekend and we had a great time other than the fact that Drew was catching a cold and was a little out of sorts!

Tonight Kyle and Drew put Blake's swing together, so other than getting the car seat in the car everything is ready (I think!).

Apparently Drew thought this piece was a horn. He was making a VERY funny horn noise!

Putting the finishing piece on!!

Drew is very good at catching and killing "bees" (ants). He found one by the door and used Kyle's shoe to get it. What a big helper!!

Getting closer

So, we had a LONG weekend this past weekend getting the boys' rooms ready. We set up Drew's big boy bed and we got Blake's room organized and all the laundry done. The crib is also set up for a infant again instead of a 2-year-old! Kyle and I even bought our first package of newborn diapers! They are SO small compared to Drew's and I know when Blake comes that Drew will look like a giant! Sunday after church and lunch, Drew and I were snuggling before naptime and apparently we were more tired than we thought! We both dozed off and so Kyle snapped a cute shot of us!

We are officially 36 weeks and 1 day today! We made it past how far I was when Drew decided to join us...so now the waiting game officially begins! Kyle is so cute because he keeps asking me..."Are you okay?"

So, here is the belly at 28 weeks....
And here we are at 36 weeks....
We will keep everyone posted....we have a doctor appointment tomorrow, so maybe an update then!

Pumpkin Carving

This weekend we had some visitors come to help us organize Blake's room and get Drew's big boy bed set up! Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Kinsey, and Uncle Cody came up and we were VERY busy getting things ready! I hope to have some pictures of the boys' rooms posted sometime this week! On Saturday night we were able to do some pumpkin carving. Drew liked watching, but didn't do much helping! He kept saying, "Eww yucky." But he loved the outcome!
