Something new

So, I haven't written in awhile. Maybe it's because I have had no pictures to post. I suppose I should take a picture of the whiteness outside! It is snowing again today and has been all day long. Who knows how much more we will get? I think snow is pretty and lovely, but it makes traveling so much harder. It's harder too when you have to carry your son around because you don't want him to walk around it it, fall down, and getting soaking wet. So, I will continue to carry him till it gets better out! I hate that the snow sometimes dictates what we can and can't do because it can be dangerous to drive in. Anyway, enough about the snow!

Drew LOVES to open the doors around our house and it has caused more problems than good. He likes to get the broom and mop out, which is very cute until he almost takes your head off because it's hard to manuever for a one year old. He can also get in the bathroom closet which is where the plunger is kept. Yeah, gross, I know! He also likes to climb on the kitchen chairs, which he is very proud of himself for, but luckily hasn't fallen off yet.

We have been super busy lately, but I think it's a good thing. We all still have colds, but it's winter, what do you expect? Last night we went to a Milwaukee Wave game. Its major league indoor soccer and I usually don't care for soccer all that much, but the indoor is very intense. Drew did a great job and had a lot of fun watching, running, and dancing. He DOES NOT like the Wave mascot and holds onto us for dear life when he is around. It's very funny! We are going to another game on New Year's Eve and will take pictures then. Hope everyone's December is going well!

Silly Mommy, Funny Drew

Wednesday nights are usually are crazy nights because we have The Edge and XStream. They are our teenage programs at church. So, we usually don't get home till a little after 9 which is past Drew's bedtime. Last night he fell asleep on the way home and stayed asleep till I was getting his jammies on him. While I was taking off his shirt, he woke up. No big deal, I was then able to fill his humidifier and read to him! I did just that and then as usual laid him down, covered him up, and turned on his musical turtle. I went about my nightly duties of picking up somethings and going over some stuff from The Edge. All while Drew is playing away in his crib! It is so cute listening to him talk and play! So after awhile the "playing" had stopped and it was quiet in there so I waited a bit longer before going back in. I just wanted to make sure he was covered up since he had been wondering about the crib. As I walk in and approach his crib his little head pops up....HE'S NOT ASLEEP.....shoot silly mommy I should have waited! But I am kinda glad I didn't (here comes the funny Drew part) he had unzipped his entire sleeper!!! It was so funny! He looked so cute! So, after a little bit more hassle and some snuggle time he finally drifted off to sleep! He has a little cold back (as do mom and dad), so pray we get better soon! Love to all!

One of Life's Hard Ones

Tonight is going to be a hard one for the Turner family and another very special family. Last Tuesday a student in the ministry lost his battle with mitochoniral disease. His name is Zach and he is one of the most amazing young men I will ever meet. He had an impact on Kyle and I the day we met him. It was his first day as a 7th grader (two years ago) in the junior high programming. Everyone was introducing themselves and Zach said, "I am Zachary Ryan Juhlmann, the one and only." So, from then on out we called him "The One and Only". He sure was! Tonight is the visitation and funeral...it will be Kyle's first. Please pray for the Juhlmann family because even though they know that Zach isn't in pain and he is hanging out with Jesus (and his little bro who passed away two years ago from the same thing) it is still unfathomable to lose a child. I can't even imagine.

As usual in these situations you learn something. I have been reminded that we are all God's children. My little boy does not belong to me...he is God's child. God has just given him to me to take care of. I have been reminded that even though he may be whiny, cranky, tired, teething, and pusing all of my buttons he is still here and God wants me to take care of him to the best of my ability. God has renewed me as a mother that he has given me this precious boy to take care of and he is here!

A huge thanks to Zach for making such an impact on so many lives and to his family remember that the ULTIMATE Father is taking good care of him now and you will be reunited someday.

To God, thank you for giving me this amazing gift of Drew to take care of and raise to know and love You. Please help me remember what an incredible responsiblity it is!

Kyle, I am very proud of you!

Although a hard day..."It's Just Another Day in Paradise"

Lots of love to you all!

Here Comes Santa Claus

So, we went last night to the mall to see Santa. Last year Drew did unusually well when we went to see St. Nick, so I was hoping that the easy tradition would continue. He did great in line (which was very short) and we were showing him Santa and having him wave at Santa. Then it happened....Kyle went to put Drew on Santa's lap, Drew took one look at him and lost it. He was reaching his little arms up to us like, "HELP ME". So, after one more try we decided to have a family Christmas picture this year! Unfortunately I couldn't even get Drew's plug out of his mouth...every time I tried he would cry. So here is our family picture with Santa and the plug!

Christmas Time is Here!

So in the Turner household Christmas officially begins after Thanksgiving is over. Therefore it is the Sunday after Thanksgiving and we have already watched three Christmas movies and our house is decorated as well! Here are a few pictures of the decoration process!

Here is Kyle and Drew looking over all the ornaments.

This is Drew "hanging" (throwing) ornaments on the tree!

Now Mommy is helping Drew.

Our tree completed!

These are two special ornaments. The ball is from Kyle's great grandparents and the other is from Amy's great grandparents.

Here is our family ornament for this year.

Here is Drew's 2007 ornament!

A Goldfish and a Haircut

Earlier in the week we had a weekly run to Wal-mart. We had to pick up a few things and then thought it would be good to write down some Christmas ideas for Drew for his grandparents. As we were walking around Kyle told me to push Drew toward the fish. When he got up by them he was talking up a storm, pointing at all of them, and was just plain excited! So, Kyle said that he (Drew) needed his first pet! Now we have a goldfish at the Turner house named Gigi. That is the first thing that Drew said when he pointed to the fish, therefore the name! It is very cute...when you ask Drew where Gigi is he will point to the entertainment center, which is where Gigi is! He loves to look at the fish and then points to the food because he also likes to help feed it! It is quite adorable!

Today I took Drew to get another haircut! His hair wasn't too bad, but it was getting longer in the back and it hung over his ears! He was getting some major bedhead in the morning! Haha! So, I took him to a place called Kid-dos because they have cars he can sit in and flat-screen TVs that the kids can watch! He didn't seem to care about either one and cried the entire way through it! I was kinda bummed, but the girl who was cutting his hair was totally patient and did a terrific job! So, I suppose we will keep trying!

A visit to the Doctor!

Today we took Drew to his 16-month check up. Yes...he is 16 months old! I cannot believe it! Here are the stats...

Weight--24 lbs. 4 oz. (40th percentile)
Height--32 3/4 inches (82nd percentile)
Head--it's in the 50th percentile

The doctor says all is well and his development stuff is in the 18 month range, so that is good! Hurray for Drew! He did have to get three shots, which he wasn't too happy about, but he did take an excellent nap, which will result in a happy guy this evening!

We also had another class at the Y today (before the doctor) and we played with a parachute! It was so cute to watch him run under with all the other kids! He loves going there! I also dropped him off in the nursery before that, so mommy could get a small workout in! He did great and only cried for a few minutes! Good job Drew! Well, that's all for now and have a super day!

Darn Colds

So, for the past week and a half I have had a yucky cold/virus. Now Drew has a cold! Darn colds! Poor little guy's nose is all runny and he has a yucky cough! He seems to be getting better, but unfortunately according to the doctors I cannot give him any cold medicines because they recomend that a child be two years old for that stuff! So in the meantime we are keeping him as comfortable as possible!

The cold hasn't seemed to slow him down at all! He is still running, climbing, and getting into everything! The other night I came home from work to find Kyle and Drew running through the house yelling! It was so cute! The little guy is napping right now so I am tryting to be somewhat domestic by making pumpkin muffins, doing laundry, and making chili for tonight! I am very excited because I got a new crockpot today (red to match the kitchen) and it came with a little tiny crock pot for dips and sauces! (I know...it's the little things, right?) Anyway, I am excited to use it tonight! We are going to our friends (the Belmers) for a soup night! It'll be a blast! Well, I suppose enough writing for now...back to the pumpkin muffins! Yummy!

Y-M-C-A It's fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A

So, I had been taking Drew to story time a the library. Unfortunately for me he chose not to sit down at all which is fine...he is one! So, I decided on an alternative for him! I had been talking with my friend Jennifer and she had been taking her twins to a Parent and Tot class at the YMCA. Basically they get to run around for 45 minutes in a room full of mats, trampolines, and other fun things. I thought, "How perfect would this be for Drew!" AND IT WAS!!! He absolutely loves going. There are five kids in the class including the twins (who I used to babysit for by the way) and they have a short circle time and then they get to run around on the mats, play on the bars, crawl through tunnels, and run on the tumble track. When we are on the tumble track it is next to the springboard floor and it makes this mommy want to see if she can still tumble! I might have to use the tumble track first because it has trampoline springs! Haha!

Drew on the mat with the rings...

Drew getting off the tumble track.

Drew and the teacher on the tumble track!

Drew, Emma, and Haley playing on the mats.

Here is Drew climbing on the bigger mat.

Hope you enjoy!!!!

Song Lyrics

Okay, so these are the lyrics that our blog is "named" after! Great song and describes us very well! Sometimes our lives are completely chaotic, but at the end of the day we are still shooting for the same goal and we have been very blessed to have what we have!

Just Another Day in Paradise by Phil Vassar

The kids screaming, phone ringing
Dog barking at the mailman bringing
That stack of bills - overdue
Good morning baby, how are you?
Got a half hour, quick shower
Take a drink of milk but the milk's gone sour
My funny face makes you laugh
Twist the top on and I put it back
There goes the washing machine
Baby, don't kick it.
I promise I'll fix it
Long about a million other things

Well, it's ok. It's so nice
It's just another day in paradise
Well, there's no place thatI'd rather be
Well, it's two hearts
And one dream
I wouldn't trade it for anything
And I ask the Lord every night
For just another day in paradise

Friday, you're late
Guess we'll never make our dinner date
At the restaurant you start to cry
Baby, we'll just improvise
Well, plan B looks likeDominoes' pizza in the candle light
Then we'll tippy toe to our room
Make a little love that's overdue
But somebody had a bad dream
Mama and daddy
Can me and my teddy
Come in to sleep in between?

Yeah it's ok. It's so nice.
It's just another day in paradise.
Well, there's no place thatI'd rather be
Well, it's two hearts
And one dream
I wouldn't trade it for anything
And I ask the Lord every night
For just another day in paradise

Well, it's ok. It's so nice.
It's just another day in paradise.
Well, there's no place thatI'd rather be
Two hearts
And one dream
I wouldn't trade it for anything
And I ask the Lord every night
For just another day in paradise

For just another day in paradise
Well, it's the kids screaming.
The phone ringing
Just another day
Well, it's Friday. You're late
Oh yeah, it's just another day in paradise

Okay, so here's the deal...

Okay, so I know I have tried doing this before and failed miserably, but I am going to try to do better this time! Basically I want to try to keep my friends and family updated on our "paradise". There is a country song (maybe I should post the lyrics) that reminds me of our life and how even though things get crazy we still have an amazing life! So, if I haven't posted in a few days you can comment and tell me to post. Parents...this does not mean if I haven't posted in a few minutes...hahaha! Hopefully this can be a way for you all to keep up with us!
